Temporary Activity, Work & Training Visas

Australia has a range of temporary visa pathways for individuals who wish to undertake specific work, professional activities, training, research, cultural activities or other approved temporary engagements.

Temporary Activity Visa – Subclass 408

The Temporary Activity visa (subclass 408) allows eligible individuals to participate in specific temporary activities in Australia.

Eligibility and sponsorship or support requirements vary depending on the particular stream and proposed activity. Some applicants may need an approved temporary activities sponsor or an appropriate supporting organisation.

Temporary Work (International Relations) Visa – Subclass 403

The Temporary Work (International Relations) visa (subclass 403) is designed for specific work arrangements that support Australia’s international relations.

The visa includes several streams, including the Government Agreement stream, Foreign Government Agency stream, Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular) stream, Privileges and Immunities stream, Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) stream and Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme (MATES).

Each stream has its own eligibility requirements, sponsorship, endorsement or other conditions. For example, the PALM stream is associated with the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility scheme, while MATES provides an opportunity for eligible Indian graduates and early-career professionals who are selected through the relevant process to live and work in Australia for up to two years.

Training Visa – Subclass 407
