The Partner visa (subclass 100) is the permanent stage of this pathway. Eligible applicants are generally considered for the permanent visa after meeting the relevant requirements, including the applicable waiting and relationship requirements.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the relevant relationship, health, character and other visa criteria.

Partner Visa – Subclasses 820 and 801

The Partner visa (subclass 820) is the temporary stage of the onshore Partner visa pathway. It is available to eligible applicants who apply in Australia and meet the relevant requirements.

The Partner visa (subclass 801) is the permanent stage of this pathway and is generally available to eligible holders of the subclass 820 visa once the applicable requirements are met.

Visitor Visa – Subclass 600

Visit Australia for Tourism, Family Visits or Short Business Activities

Planning a holiday, visiting family and friends, or travelling to Australia for eligible short-term business visitor activities? The Visitor visa (subclass 600) provides several visa streams for eligible visitors.

Tourist Stream

The Visitor visa (subclass 600) – Tourist stream allows eligible visitors to travel to Australia for tourism, including holidays, cruises and visiting family or friends.

Depending on the circumstances, the Department may grant a stay period of 3, 6 or 12 months. The visa is temporary, and applicants must satisfy the relevant requirements, including demonstrating that they are genuine visitors and have adequate funds for their stay and departure from Australia.

Business Visitor Stream

The Business Visitor stream is designed for eligible short-term business visitor activities. These may include general business or employment enquiries, negotiating or reviewing contracts, attending conferences or trade fairs, and certain official business activities.

This stream does not allow visitors to work for an Australian business or provide services to an Australian business.

Sponsored Family Stream

For eligible applicants visiting family in Australia, the Sponsored Family stream may provide another Visitor visa pathway. Applicants must meet the relevant requirements, and sponsorship arrangements may apply.
